This is also true about the bathroom furniture

Bathroom vanities are nothing new. Cabinets that hold the bathroom sink and hide the plumbing from general view is quite an old concept. However, most of the old styled vanities hold some sort of Waste Drain cupboards underneath the sink and although these cupboards provide ample storage space, they are a little cumbersome to look at. However, today the modern bathroom vanities have a more minimalist look because the whole concept of interior design has undergone a sea change. Earlier, people loved heavy and ornate furniture, but not any more.

May be because space is premium today, people like furniture that gives illusion to wider space even though they may not actually create one. This is also true about the bathroom furniture. Today the bathroom vanities are manufactured mainly out of wood, glass, brass, stainless steel and stone although the glass vanities are more contemporary than modern. Now, you may want to know the difference between a modern vanity and a contemporary vanity because the dictionary meaning of both the words is quite similar.

However, as far as bathroom vanities are concerned a contemporary vanity can be more modern than modern bathroom vanities. In fact, the contemporary style of vanities is the continuation of the modern style and that is why some experts include the contemporary bathroom fitting within the range of modern. Often the contemporary style has just one two open shelves for towels and toilet articles instead of closed drawers and shelves.

Buy such a vanity if the whole décor has a minimalist touch. However, it can also create a contrast if used cleverly with more traditional bathroom fittings. On the other side of the spectrum are the antique bathroom vanities. However, such antique vanities are not for every bathroom. It requires a distinct style of interior design to go with and what is more, the bathroom needs to be of correct shape and size to accommodate them. Remember no single piece of furniture can be good or bad. It is the overall effect that counts. Therefore whatever type of bathroom vanities you buy make sure it goes with the whole setting and that includes apart from size, shape, general décor, the wall coloring and other fittings.

Between the modern and the antique style of vanities lies the transitional style. Transitional vanities are less ornate than the antique, but are not that simplistic as modern vanities. Of course, these statements and differentiations will not mean much to you unless you can see the difference with your own eyes. Therefore, surf the internet to have look at the different categories of the vanities with your own eyes. However, know that the main advantage of the modern bathroom vanities is that they go with every type of bathroom.

Although by definition, a vanity should hold drawers and closed shelves for storage purposes apart from hiding the plumbing from view, the modern vanities, especially those bordering the contemporary styles often deviate from it. Anyway, there can be two types of such vanities:Single vanity, which can hold only one sink and so can accommodate only one person at a timeDouble vanity, which can hold two sinks so that you can have your shave while your wife brushes her teeth While the double vanity has its own advantage, a modern single bathroom vanity is more a popular choice today because not many people can afford large enough space for required for it. Your bathroom should look spacious and least congested.

In fact, a jam-packed bathroom, which looks more like a storeroom with all kinds of furniture dumped in it, is most detrimental to your health. You often feel so suffocating that you often do not spend as much time as you should to stay healthy in here. Another point to talk about before selecting a vanity is the type of sink that you would rather have. Many modern bathroom vanities are equipped with vessel sink rather than those that need to be fitted into it. The vessel sink as its name suggests looks more like a bowl than a basin. They are today made from varied materials such as porcelain, glass, copper, steel, marble, granite and even wood or bamboo. As they are fitted above the vanity, not into it, they can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Installing and even replacing one poses no problem at all. The only thing that you are required to do is to choosecarefully. Have a holistic approach. Pay more attention to the whole décor, less to the individual piece.
